B&Q TO SAVE THOUSANDS THANKS TO ECOCOOLING

Kingfisher plc is an international home improvement company operating in eight countries across Europe under big retail names such as B&Q and Screwfix.

Kingfisher contacted Celsius to look at alternative cooling solutions for their main B&Q datacentre in Fareham, to help cut running costs and power usage. The room was previously cooled by Denco CRAC units.

Celsius installed 4 no. EcoCooling Evaporative coolers providing over 140Kw of cooling, balanced with 4 no. Celsius extract fans. Each system coming with attemperation sections using a series of modulating dampers. The system also comes with numerous sensors and thermostats to maintain a set temperature and control the humidity levels.

All 4 systems are controlled from 1 central EcoCooling PLC panel, which interlinks with the fire system and existing CRAC’s. The EcoCoolers will act as the primary cooling system which will cut their power usage by 90% which will in turn drastically cut running costs.

The installation was undertaken during normal working hours in a live datacentre with no disruptions
