Food Production Facility Cooling
When quality bacon producers Becketts Foods took over their new multi-million pound production facility they called upon Celsius to cool their offices and impressive new Atrium reception.
We used conventional air conditioning in the offices as these were small individual areas and they also needed heating, so heat pump units were perfect.
However, the large front atrium requires over 30KW of cooling due to the south-facing glass and the cost to cool this area if air conditioning were used would have been considerable both in terms of capital cost but also for running costs.
So we designed and installed an EcoCooling system with suitable attenuation for the area, the whole installation was less than £8,500 and running costs for the year will be less than £500 and for such a large area this is amazingly competitive.
Celsius undertook the complete turnkey installation.
The roof-mounted attenuated extraction unit at the far end of the atrium provides the required extraction of the hot air at a high level.
Due to the amount of attenuated ducting used in the installation, the system is very quiet running and can barely be heard, with noise levels of less than 50 dB(A).
The system is controlled from a low-level control panel with the automatic thermostatic operation, the desired temperature is set and this is maintained automatically, for the vast majority of the year the system will operate on free cooling, then when the external temperature rises above the external setpoint (usually pre-set at 14Co) the evaporative cooling automatically comes on thus chilling the entering airstream.
The extraction fan operates automatically as required, this is the most economically and ecologically sound method of cooling this type of area – EcoCooling, is the perfect solution!!!
